pics of late....

its 2:30 am in sydney, australia (9:30 am yesterday in OK) and i should be going to bed because we have to fly to singapore in the morning, but i'm just not tired yet. so here are some pics of stuff i've taken the past couple months...

this was at the scariest looking, but tastiest taco shack i've found in burbank, ca. i do concur with its message....

gaylor's jump"suit". genius....

dr. pepper in england is not the same. it tastes like a horrible diet drink. this the english diet version. i can only imagine how bad it is. the doctor would not approve....

in amsterdam they've banned smoking cigarettes inside. i found that to be a funny thought process....

"sausage" in germany. trying to eat this looked like that scene in "nothing but trouble" where dan akroyd as the judge is eating the hot dog. ugggghhhhh.....

what it looks like to stand on the balcony of TRL in italy...

italian super fan. and the dude was a DUDE! he looked like a football player. it was crazy...

the singapore airport is the most ridiculous airport i've ever seen. here are pics of the coy pond at the gate (note the "no fishing" sign) and the butterfly garden. there was also a free movie theater...

gaylor too drunk to stand in adelaide, australia...

aussie for "rice crispies"....

what happens when you don't watch where you're stepping on stage...

gold single in australia!!! stoked!

"new zealand tour 2009." this was the only show....

and that's it. we've been out of the country for over a month and we still have two weeks to go. i miss the USA, but we found a mexican restaurant in auckland yesterday that, by american standards wasn't that great, but totally did the job considering how long its been since we've had any. didn't find any sumatran rat monkeys, though.

Product Tuesday

For all you smokers. (or campers) When its wet outside and the wind is blowing up to 80 mph. Its hard to light a fire. But with this tiny new Brunton lighter none of the above matters. Plus its good up to 30,000 lights. I kind of want one. But it is very ridiculous.

Building a Nation

So the highlight of my weekend consisted of me wrapping-up a big paper over how I teach small groups and running 4 miles to Less Talk More Rock. I have not listened to Propaghandi in a very long time. Years. I had fun reliving '97-'99.

I was stuck in a nostalgic mood since Thursday after Nate Dodd's funeral; and, listening to that album brought back TONS of memories while sweating out the pizza.

The funeral was very interesting. It was strange seeing familiar faces without names--seeing people that I have not seen since we carried on hours of conversation during the night hours, years and years ago. All the rent houses and apartments throughout Edmond and Oklahoma City flooded my memories as I sat through the funeral.

I felt a bit sad for not remembering the faces of the conversations that indirectly shaped my past. It WAS cool seeing Jason's mustache, Jay Manger (and his sister), and of course Justin Barnes.

So here I am typing in my office (the end of the couch), watching Darby construct a nation of his own imagination out of Duplo Blocks with Empire playing in the background while Elanna and Scout nap. I am thinking of you all. Have a relaxing Sunday, bros.

09-10

So I am actually going to post something serious on here for once.
Something I actually know things about.
Clothing and Lifestyle inspiration 09-10. (Actually it kind of started in the fall of 08 but I am just now getting these ideas together.)
I am really into the "Vintage American Workman" so to speak. I like the idea of buying things that are sustainable. Things you can keep for a life time. Imagery from an era were people werent constantly bombared by "do this, buy that."
So in short throw away all your neon tees and ed hardy hats. cause they are lame and will always be.

1. Brands killing 09
Rogues Gallery- Maine Nautical Vibe
Band of Outsiders- Vintage English Gent/Americana
Shade of Greige-
A.P.C. French minimalism-- Been hot for a couple of years but still hot.
Rag and Bone- simple easy clothes

2. Colors
Winter- Satured Neutrals and Slub fabric
S/S- Sun faded Brights/ neutrals
Brown Leather. Black in somethings.. but brown leather says im too wealthy for black
Navy Blue-Same as Brown. You look more sopisticated. Everyone can wear black.
only the bold wear navy

3. Suprise pops of color. Like your socks. make a statement somewhere small

4. Buy some leather boots. any kind. wear em kill em.

5. Shoes for the summer. Topsiders are over. Buy some Jack Purcells or Stan Smiths.
Even some oldschool color vans.

So here are some Iconic photos.

jazzbreaker?

there was a bulletin today on MySpace from the Jawbreaker page about a dude covering jawbreaker songs via bigband. maybe you guys saw it?!? well if not, he's got a website full of covers. i found some of the horn lines pretty damn funny, but i couldn't take any of the songs seriously. not sure if it was the genre, or the vocals. which is weird because i like horns...i occasionally like big band....i definitely like jawbreaker...but i don't like this shit. lol.
oh well, to each their own. it helped kill an hour today.
